Walk to Hatley Castle & Gardens
From Birds of a Feather BnB • 30 min WALK

1. At Heatherbell’s end, enter the driveway. About 40 steps in, use the open Royal Roads University gate on the left.
2. Follow the path and veer right where the paths join.
3. At the paved T, turn left onto University Drive. Then turn right onto Library Road toward the Castle. 

4. Formal gardens entrance: garden booth beside Hatley Castle on College Drive.

   The formal gardens are beside the Castle. Castle access can vary because it serves as a university administrative building.
    

Walk to Esquimalt Lagoon Beach
From Birds of a Feather BnB • 20 min WALK

1. Follow Portsmouth Dr, then turn left onto Matilda Dr.
2. At Matilda’s end, use the worn path right of the construction fence.
3. Walk toward the second condo, then bear left on the blackberry-bush trail.
4. The trail meets Anchorage Ave. The beach is just ahead.
5. At Anchorage Ave, continue toward the water. You can walk either the lagoon side or the ocean side.
