Dieter was born in Germany and grew up on a farm in Bolton just outside of Toronto where he enjoyed a legal career until moving to Victoria in 1997. Dieter is one of the founding partners of northStudio.com and QCollege.ca and today sits on a number of tech advisory boards. My passion for boating is embraced as captain of our very own MarineEcoTours.com
Richard Branson's outlook on business and life are a huge inspiration to me.
Paphada was born in Thailand. Having graduated from Bangkok Univeristy as an accountant she changed careers to the tourism sector working her way from front office manager to Business Development & Marketing Manager for a major hotel brand in Thailand. She now works as a marketing manager for a tech company. We met each other while Dieter stayed as a guest at the hotel. I value family and good friends.
We both enjoy mentoring and helping others. We also both enjoy traveling. Dieter enjoys taking guests out on road and marine tours. Staff operate the B&B, however, you'll no doubt meet us both as the first floor of the building is our home. During the winter months we live at Birds of a Feather Thailand B&B offering escorted "friends and family" style vacations including road tours throughout Thailand and south east Asia.
Waterfront bed and breakfast (with plenty of free parking): Our backyard is a 120 acre lagoon, connected to, but sheltered from, the Pacific Ocean. The lagoon is designated a Migratory Bird Sanctuary and is ideal for safe canoeing, row-boating and kayaking; boats and mountain bikes supplied free of charge. We are surrounded by the Historic Fort Rodd Hill, the 1860 Fisgard Lighthouse and the Hatley Castle & Gardens. All of this is nestled amidst 600 acres of old growth forest and accessible by walking / hiking, canoeing, kayaking or cycling from our doorstep. Free use of our private dock, courtesy boats and mountain bikes are also included. Mile after mile of west coast beaches and hiking trails are set against the back drop of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains which tower over the shipping lanes of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
Our waterfront bed and breakfast house has been purpose built to accommodate both honeymooners and families with children. The Family suite is at one end of the building and the Honeymoon suite is at the other far end with lots of space and Luxury Suite separating them. We have also gone to exceptional lengths to sound-proof everything.
Cycle or hike the Galloping Goose Trail connecting downtown to our greater Victoria regional municipality of Colwood to the west coast beaches of Sooke; a trail entry point is right here. Butchart Gardens are 15 minutes north. An excellent day-trip is a 2 hour drive up the scenic west coast to the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail and tidal pools at Port Renfrew - the road ends there. Explore the world-class Royal BC Museum, enjoy British high-tea and allow your senses to be awed by our Parliament buildings which, in the evening, are outlined by thousands of lights which reflect in the waters of the inner harbour.
