Where can you wake up in the morning on a quiet lagoon, far away from winter? Where can you have a home cooked breakfast made by warm and inviting hosts? AND, where can you witness wildlife from deer, to sheep, the bald eagle and a wonderful variety of birds out your wrap around window?
Well, this is possible at Birds of A Feather B&B in Victoria, British Columbia.
We arrived on January 8th, 2011 for a long term stay at Birds of a Feather and found ourselves in awe of the scene of the lagoon from our suite. Escaping the Ontario winter is our goal for the next few months and I cannot believe that we found this place. At our fingertips is the Hatley Park where we have been enjoying many walks and taking in the vistas of the forest. The season has been gentle on our souls in January and February even with a good dusting of snow. This added to the outstanding view of Hatley Castle across the lagoon.
While here, trips up island are easy to access and the location is one to be noted for easy day trips.
From early morning mist, to breathtaking sunrises, light on the water and the soothing sound of the gentle rains, we are able to co-exist with nature around us in tranquility.
I could not think of a better place to spend working, reading and relaxing than Birds of a Feather. It is now April and I look forward to the Spring. The flowers have bloomed and baby lambs are in sight. Easter will be a delight!
More reflection to come............as we are here until the end of May!
