Magical place
"What a thrill it was when I arrived on May 24 to find such a magical place! Although the photos on the web enticed me here the reality was even better. Dieter and Annette have created a very special sanctuary for people to share with our fine feathered friends. As a single woman travelling alone it was the perfect place for my temporary "home" on the island. I feel so fortunate that I found it on the net. I looked forward to every morning's delicious breakfast: blueberry soufflé, strawberry and banana crepes, and a very special salmon quiche, to name a few. Dieter was ever helpful with touring and dinning recommendations, and even with several days to spend I couldn't cover them all. Guess I'll just have to come back! To all who read this - enjoy! "

3 schoene Tage

Very enjoyable stay
"A very enjoyable stay. We had intended to go in to downtown Victoria on Tuesday but spent the whole day here in this area. We watched the birds from the deck and walked in the forest at Royal Roads. We visited the Japanese Gardens at 4:30 pm and had the whole place to ourselves - it was wonderful. All the best! Hope to come back some day. "

An irresistible retreat
"We were the first occupants of Room 1 (for our honeymoon). The area and room were both so beautiful. The details and craftsmanship of the suite perfectly complimented the gorgeous surroundings that make Birds of a Feather an irresistible retreat. Dieter made us feel at home all week! "

Most memorable
"It has been a true pleasure to be the first guests in the newly expanded quarters of Birds of a Feather. Relaxing does not come easily to us, both with demanding jobs, but in a matter of 24 hours we have evolved in to a couple of lethargic slugs. The view, the ambience, the hospitality have melded to make our stay most memorable. "

Delicious breakfasts
"Well, this is my second trip to Victoria and I think it has been even better than the first. My parents let me pick the vacation spot this year because I just graduated high school, so I told them,"Let's finish up the Victoria trip!". Exept I now know there is NO WAY to finish the trip!.:) There's always something new to experience in this island! Thank you so much for your hospitality and advice!. And please forward a thank you to Yvonne for all of her kindness and for helping me bake a pie! (my first pie). I had such a wonderful time picking (and eating!) blackberries, whale-whatching, seeing the fireworks at Butchart, and hiking. This island is like nowhere else in the world and is perhaps my favorite place. Maybe I will live here someday! Who Knows? Again, thank you for opening your home and hearts to my family and me! You have been incredibly kind and helpful! Love and Blessings. PS- Thanks for filling me up on DELICIOUS breakfasts before I must go eat university cafeteria food! Give my regards to Emily and Montgomery. "

Wonderful surroundings
"We were afraid not to find a place to stay on Vancouver Island because of BC Day! Calling Dieter to ask him for a room, he offered us the possibilty of today, although we had to leave early in the morning! So we could not enjoy the breakfast, but nevertheless we enjoyed the short stay because of the wonderful surroundings and the free access to all the things which this B&B offers! (internet, dishes, and books) Thank you "

Wonderful hosts
"You, along with Montgomery and Emily were wonderful hosts. Lorna and I enjoyed a mix of rest and activity. One of the highlights was sunbathing on the lawn. The castle and gardens were so relaxing. Since there was a report of a couger in the area we were cafeful to hold large sticks of wood vertically over out heads so we would appear much larger and taller to the cougar. Lorna needed a much taller stick than I. We took many fine photos. One I shall label "Stream after cougar drank and departed". Our four nights here were therapeutic, the weather outstanding& the nights cool and quiet, notwithstanding some minor snoring. We would love to return! "
