Baby Orca breached!
"The open air market on Salt Spring Island was a unique and fun experience. The arts and crafts stores in Ganges were a delight to discover. We enjoyed the fresh air, the natural scenery and the Dahl’s porpoises along the way. The ride back to Victoria was even more scenic as we boated through the channel and under the old wooden bridge between the Pender Islands. Going home the long way through the San Juans and around the bottom of San Juan Island was an excellent choice. We saw Orcas and a recently born baby orca breach out of the water! The boat is very comfortable and Dieter knows the waters like a seasoned mariner. We really appreciated having the zodiac all to ourselves and not being on any schedule. This was the best trip to Victoria ever! See you again next year for another adventure.

By bicycle from Port Angeles
"We arrived by ferry from Port Angeles. Navigated the downtown on our bicycles - finally intersecting the Galloping Goose half way here.
Cyclists - if you cut across at Adaye (there is a short field) this turns in to Metchosin - and it is an easy downhill. To go back up - it is far more enjoyable to take Heatherbell up to Lagoon - drop down - cycle across the spit - then just across Old Island Highway is the Galloping Goose.
Day 1 - in to Victoria at Switch Bridge where Lochside and Galloping Goose intersect - back out again, and followed Lochside (some on road, some on trail - but signed) all the way to Sidney - Back to Victoria for supper - then here.
Day 2 - Took Galloping Goose to Sooke Potholes - with a side trip in to Sooke. Great vistas, great trails, lots of wildlife: bald eagle, four deer, wild rabbits, red headed woodpecker - otter or seal out in the lagoon.
Excellent breakfasts to fuel the rides. So much more to see. We'll have to come back.

Up close & personal with swans, geese, ducks, herons
"We enjoyed our stay. Exploring the lagoon and getting up close & personal with swans, geese, ducks and herons was a memorable part of this experience. Thank you. You have a beautiful establishment.

We had a ton of fun

Birds sang for us the whole time
"My husband and I celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary (34 if you count the 3 years we lived together) here. Thank you we had a wonderful time here. Your place is beautiful !! We enjoyed our dinner with wine, smoked fish / salmon, cheese, grapes & cheese scones on your patio. The birds sang for us the whole time!! We look forward to returning.

Celebrated our 42 wedding anniversary in this ideal setting!
"Dieter, among your many gifts and talents, hospitality reigns! Thank you for your sensitivity to your guests' needs. You know the right amount of privacy and the right amount of attention you should give. You made us feel so comfortable and your cheerful disposition is heart warming. Thank you for two delicious breakfasts. We missed meeting Annnette, but we were delighted to meet Winston. We thoroughly enjoyed this more-than-comfortable room and all it ammenities. We celebrated our 42 wedding anniversary in this ideal setting!

Hope we will be back soon, and often
"We stopped here almost on a whim, a last minute addition to our celebration of our first anniversary. Our stay proved to be the icing on the cake. With so much to explore here in Victoria, I hope we will be back soon, and often.

Loved the view from the room ... herons, otter, swan, ducks
"Thank you so much for the wonderful, restful stay in your beautiful "Honeymoon Suite." Your rooms have everything we could possibly need and more. Breakfast were delicious, conversations were wonderful and your assistance and suggestions for "things to do" wonderful. We loved the view from the room, watching the herons, ducks, geese and swans (and especially the otter) Our whale watching excursion was amazing - from the pod of whales, nesting bald eagles, sea lion eating salmon, harbour seals and so many birds!! We will be back!!

Always happy to come "home" to this part of town
"We had such a wonderful time in the family room (#3). The room was perfect - comfortable beds, lots of space, cozy bathrobes and the view was delightful, especially when the sheep next door were in full romp. We loved the B&B's proximity to Fisgard Lighthouse & Hatley Castle & gardens. Dieter's tips for an all-day outing to Port Renfrew were spot on. Our whale watching expedition lacked only whales, but we had fun anyway and were able to see three species of seals. We were thrilled to see so many flowers in bloom in spite of the somewhat chilly weather, and at least one of us (Laura) was particularly enthralled with the moss and lichens we saw everywhere !! We did enjoy downtown Victoria (especially the Royal BC museum) but we were always happy to come "home" to this part of town where swans are in the lagoon and life is quiet and peaceful. Thank you for a marvellous week and respite from our busy lives.

Exceeded our expectations
"We heard about Birds of a Feather from some friends of ours that came here last summer. It exceeded our expectations, and we had a wonderful time. The food was great, the scenery beautiful and we had a never ending supply of things to do. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anybody, and we are looking forward to coming back some time soon.

Intense 3 week teaching schedule
"With an intense 3 week teaching schedule at Royal Roads, Birds of a Feather is a perfect retreat after a long day of teaching. With it's view of the lagoon, the campus and the Strait of Juan de Fuca it provides a tranquil setting to reset your mind. The rooms have kitchenettes and all the ammenities you need for the three weeks and have the added bonus of a 20 minute walk through the old growth forest to campus. I have enjoyed my stay here and would gladly stay again for next years residency.

Saved a bundle on restaurants and didn't need a car
"I wanted to thank you, Dieter and Annette for the wonderful 3 weeks at Birds of a Feather. The luxurious accommodation provided everything I needed, and more, while attending Royal Roads. The room was quiet with lots of space and a great set up for working on my computer. The oversize tub and super comfortable bed was very much appreciated after long days of sitting in a classroom. What a pleasure to wake up in the morning and watch the gorgeous sun rise over the water. I was able to prepare all my own meals and being within walking distance to campus was a real bonus. I saved a bundle on restaurants and didn't need a car! I would highly recommend Birds of a Feather to anyone who is attending residency at Royal Roads, as well as to anyone who just wants to spend a few luxurious evenings on the Island.

What an amazing place we discovered
"We came here on our honeymoon and what an amazing place we discovered. Waking up all week to the views, birds, and sunshine makes it hard to leave. Loved seeing the same seagull every morning greeting us. We loved eating at Johns Place in Victoria. Also MyChosen Cafe & Pizza tased great. Perhaps we will return some day to explore and see new sights. Thank you so much for this!
"
Loved our week here
"We loved our week here, especially since we were visiting our "one and only" two year old grandson. Even in February we found plenty to do when our daughter was at work. It was great to borrow your bicycles on a gorgeous sunny day and bicycle through Royal Roads University grounds. We hope to be back some day.
"
High speed internet
"Having stayed at Birds of a Feather on vacation, it was natural for me to choose the location for my stay during the first residency of my Royal Roads MBA program. The location is very close to school, so not far to drive when the library closes at 10! As well, it gave me a space away from school to reflect and recharge - and with the high speed internet and Skype it was like I was in the residency with the rest of my team!.
Fabulous place to stay, great rooms, and great location - will be back for res 2!
