We have enjoyed our stay greatly!
" We are coming to the close of a 12-day vacation. We have enjoyed our stay greatly. Much of the pleasure of our stay owes to Dieter and Ashley. They have made us feel very welcome. They have looked after us well. They have created a very relaxed environment. We will be returning to Victoria on a regular basis. Because of our EXPERIENCE staying at Birds of a Feather we will surely return here on each visit. Thank you Dieter and Ashley for all you did to enhance our vacation. "

Once is not enough
" Quite nice - quiet, clean, & nice surroundings. We enjoyed ourselves and will recommend to our friends. Once is not enough and on our next trip to Victoria we will stay here again! "
My fortune to have found this place
" Have been longing for Victoria's great scenes. This time, we paid a visit to the nearby famous scenic spot, the Hatley Castle, on the occasion of purr pre-wedding shooting. The place Birds of a Feather provides very easy access of pretty much everything I need. It's really my fortune to have found this place. Candace, the cook for our breakfast, is very nice & great with her casserole. Hope we can try her cooking again next time. By the way, great design of rooms. Smart and cozy homey layout. Thinking of remodelling the room for my own house in the future.   "
Sharing your special place on the water
" This place is growing on us! Thanks for the spectacular weather, great food, super company & sharing your special place on the water! "
Beautifully Quiet 1-week Vacation Rental
" A great place to stay to enjoy the area thoroughly and for preparing own simple meals. Beautifully quiet. Enjoyed the walking trails from the B&B especially every morning. My-Chosen Cafe was an excellent recommendation.   "
Birds of a Feather ... The Great Escape ...
" Where can you wake up in the morning on a quiet lagoon, far away from winter? Where can you have a home cooked breakfast made by warm and inviting hosts? AND, where can you witness wildlife from deer, to sheep, the bald eagle and a wonderful variety of birds out your wrap around window? Well, this is possible at Birds of A Feather B&B in Victoria, British Columbia. We arrived on January 8th, 2011 for a long term stay at Birds of a Feather and found ourselves in awe of the scene of the lagoon from our suite. Escaping the Ontario winter is our goal for the next few months and I cannot believe that we found this place. At our fingertips is the Hatley Park where we have been enjoying many walks and taking in the vistas of the forest. The season has been gentle on our souls in January and February even with a good dusting of snow. This added to the outstanding view of Hatley Castle across the lagoon. While here, trips up island are easy to access and the location is one to be noted for easy day trips. From early morning mist, to breathtaking sunrises, light on the water and the soothing sound of the gentle rains, we are able to co-exist with nature around us in tranquility. I could not think of a better place to spend working, reading and relaxing than Birds of a Feather. It is now April and I look forward to the Spring. The flowers have bloomed and baby lambs are in sight. Easter will be a delight! More reflection to come............as we are here until the end of May! "
Our son loved canoe rides and sea otter eating crab
" We really enjoyed every bit of our stay here. Delicious breakfasts, detailed tour guide instructions & suggestions. Beautful setting of the place made returning from a long day of activities made more welcome. Our son loved canoe rides and sighting of sea otter eating crab was very special. We will have to return to bike trips down the Galloping Goose Trail. You have a very well equipped kitchen where we had some nice meals made. Thank you Dieter and Ashley for making us feel at home. "
Love the heated floor!
" We loved our stay, especially the comfortable bed and relaxing view. It was rainy and still cold but still enjoyed hanging around with the family. This is our first B&B and yours is well designed. Thank you for thinking of what guests might need and providing it in the room. We also love the heated floor! "
We could just live here!
" Do we have to leave??? We could just live here! Thank you for a lovely and relaxing stay … Ashley - Thanks for the great breakfasts & even better company. I enjoyed our conversations. Even though my little Dylan had the flu for the entire stay we still had a lot of fun. We will definitely be back. I know that my angel husband was here with us the whole time, you and Dieter would have loved him, and he the two of you. I hope that through "Wall Totems" we can build a great friendship. Birds of a Feather and Vancouver Island ~ in our hearts forever   "
Generous, warm, comfortable atmosphere
" Thank you for a delightful sanctuary after the day's activities. We were here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Each day began with a full and varied breakfast, much laughter and great conversation with fellow guests and Dieter and Ashley - a send off each morning full of good food and wonderful memories. Contrary to the weather forecasts we also were blessed with much brighter, dryer weather than anticipated. We have been so delighted by the generous, warm, comfortable atmosphere at Birds of a Feather, and most welcoming and thoroughly informative hosts. We will definitely be letting friends and relatives know about this gem of hospitality and accommodation on the banks of the ever-changing Esquimalt Lagoon Bird "Sanctuary". "
Pleasantly surprised by the private, at home atmosphere
" Came here for my mother's 55th birthday. I was pleasantly surprised by the private, at home atmosphere. Your dog is hysterical and your cat has a black and blue twin sister on the mainland "
Great place for Royal Roads students to stay during residency
" This B&B is a great place for Royal Roads students to stay during residency. The walk in the morning is bright and fresh, and the accommodations are a quiet and luxurious place to study and reflect in the evenings. I really enjoyed my time in Victoria, and will definitely be looking to stay at the B&B again next year. Maybe I’ll even stay a bit longer and bring my husband! "

Highly recommend staying at Birds of a Feather while studying at RRU
" Thanks Dieter & Ashley for your fabulous hospitality and amazing B&B. It was such a treat to stay at Birds of a Feather while I was on a 2 week course at RRU. The location was perfect - right on the lagoon with a view of the university, and less than a 10 minute drive from campus. The mini kitchenette was perfect for preparing simple meals, and I loved the fireplace and big bath tub. The view from my room overlooked the lagoon, with spectacular sunrises. The accommodation and environment were so peaceful, that I found I was able to get so much work done. Lastly, the internet connection worked perfectly, and was most needed it for all my school work. All of this was well worth every penny, and I highly recommend staying at Birds of a Feather while studying at RRU. "
Love coming to Vancouver Island
" We love coming to Vancouver Island. Staying at Birds of a Feather has made our time even more memorable. Thanks Dieter and Ashley for your low key hospitality - much appreciated. "
5th visit to fabulous "Home away from Home"
" This is our 5th visit to your fabulous "Home away from Home" ! We consider the honeymoon suite "our room" (selfish aren't we :-) We get to enjoy Christmas with our families and grandchildren but return each evening to our own piece of heaven to enjoy a peaceful glass of wine in front of the fire! In the afternoons we delighted in watching the otters playing on the dock as well as the swans, ducks, etc. So very calming. Thank you Dieter and Ashley for another wonderful visit. And thanks to Ursula, the "cleaning fairy" - I enjoyed our chat and thanks also for not only your cleaning expertise but for the Yarn website info. Hope to see everyone again next year! "
Winter storm watching
" It has been a great three days celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary with our family. The weather cooperated with a big blow and a high tide to provide a feeling of specialness. All of the birds, swans and ducks were huddled to the leeward side of the spit so we got a good look at them up close. The sea foam was blowing when we visited the Fisgard Lighthouse. What more can you ask for? We are looking forward to our 110th "
As seen through the eyes of a young boy
" Dear Ashley and Dieter, I really enjoy being here because I really like the breakfast and the Samsung TV and I like that this is the perfect place to be for 4 days and I think that the spiral staircase is awesome and since today is my last day I really really want to have tons of fun! My mom saw a king fisher and I think that taco is really cute! and I saw a peacock feather at hatley castle and I like my loft bed it's way up higher than my normal bed. The cat has no tail which is strange but my dad said it has to do with the type of cat. - Blake "
2 Days were not enough!
" 2 Days were not enough! We would love to come back! What a beautiful place Birds of a Feather has been to stay. The setting, the room, wildlife, and pets all contributed to make the past two days special. Can’t wait to tell our friends form Nashville that we shared the same room 2 ½ years later. Thanks Dieter and Ashley ~ Happy Travels "
